The South Hall Community Food Pantry
began in 2003 when three churches came together with a desire to create a food pantry in the south Hall County area: St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, Christ Lutheran Church, and Oakwood First United Methodist Church. By early 2005, the South Hall Community Food Pantry became a reality and officially opened its doors in a small storage building donated by Oakwood First United Methodist Church which sits on the edge of its property.
Over the years, the pantry has had the humble privilege to hand out food to anyone in need, to pray with them or otherwise help them find support.
Every six weeks, volunteers from St. Gabe’s serve the families who come. We also collect food from various participating sponsors, store it at the Pantry, and prepare bags and boxes to give out to those in need.
When is the Food Pantry Open?
Mon: 4 – 6pm
Thu: 10am – Noon
Sat: 10am – Noon
Other Ways We Help
Through our work with the Food Pantry, St. Gabe’s also participates in a multi-church Back to School Event each summer to provide families in need some necessary school supplies that they might not otherwise be able to afford.
St. Gabriel’s and other Oakwood area churches held a Back to School Event on July 16, 2022 and provided backpacks, binders, pencils and paper, plus snacks and a few fun and games to make the day a little brighter. We saw families from all across the county and all across the world as quite a few refugees from Ukraine have made their homes here.
